Practice Accountant – About The Role
This role will involve preparing statutory and annual accounts from client records, supporting year end processes and assisting with business tax computations. You will work with a range of cloud accounting software packages and liaise directly with clients to resolve straightforward queries and maintain accurate records.
The successful candidate will be comfortable working independently while also contributing as part of a close knit team. Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage workloads in a busy environment will be important. Key responsibilities:
- Preparation of statutory and annual accounts from client records
- Preparing year end accounting files and supporting schedules
- Assisting with draft business tax computations
- Reconciling control accounts including accruals, prepayments, payroll and fixed assets
- Ensuring balance sheet figures are fully supported with appropriate documentation
- Liaising with clients to resolve routine queries
- Maintaining clear and accurate working papers
- Using a range of accounting software packages including cloud based systems
The successful Practice Accountant will have:
- Previous experience working within an accountancy practice
- Good understanding of double entry bookkeeping and accounts preparation
- Experience preparing statutory and annual accounts
- Familiarity with software including Xero, QuickBooks and Sage
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Outlook
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to work independently and manage priorities effectively
- Professional and personable approach with clients and colleagues
- Positive attitude and willingness to contribute within a team
